How KoloPlus communities work
Communities are themed circles by city, interest and cause. Here is how to join them, how to behave inside and how to create your own.
If the feed is your personal circle of friends, communities are wider circles around a shared topic. This is where it is easiest to find like-minded people, ask questions of strangers who understand your situation, and become part of something bigger than your own friend list.
What a community is
A community is a separate space with its own topic, description, rules and moderators. Topics vary: cities (“Ukrainians in Brno”), interests (cooking, sport, IT), causes (job search, mutual help), hobbies. Every community has a feed of posts, members and usually a pinned introductory post with the basics.
How to join
Find a community through search or in the recommendations and follow it. Its posts will then appear in your feed and you will be able to comment and publish (if the community rules allow it). We suggest starting with the pinned post and a few recent discussions — that way you quickly grasp the spirit and rules of the place.
Rules and good manners
Every community sets its own rules, but there are universal principles of good manners:
- Read the rules before posting. What fits in one community may be out of place in another.
- Respect others. Debate is good, insults are not. Toxicity and bullying get you removed from communities.
- Do not spam. Unapproved ads, duplicates and flooding spoil the feed for everyone.
- Add value. Sharing news — add your own thought and a link to the source. Simply copied content interests few.
- Search before you ask. Your question may already have been answered — searching saves everyone time.
Moderation
Communities are looked after by moderators. They watch over the rules, remove violations and help newcomers. If you see something inappropriate — report it, and moderation will respond. A healthy community is the shared responsibility of members and moderators.
How to create your own community
Did not find a circle on your topic? Create one. A good community starts with a few simple steps:
- A clear topic and name. A person should understand at once what the place is about.
- A clear description. Explain who the community is for and what is welcome here and what is not.
- Rules. A few simple rules set the tone and prevent chaos.
- An introductory post. Pin a guide: where a newcomer should start, useful contacts, answers to frequent questions.
- Activity. A community comes alive when there is something to talk about. Post, ask, answer — and people will come.
